About Me

I make content findable, accessible, and engaging for users.

I am a user-focused researcher, content strategist, and learning content developer.

I have rich experience in book publishing and learning-product development.

Two academic degrees in English literature, followed by years of editorial and marketing roles, have taught me that the paramount requirement of content is to communicate: to be findable, clear, accessible, persuasive, and learnable.

I solve problems and lead through change.

I have led learning-company product development teams through the evolution of pedagogical content. I married my extensive experience with the complexities of print design with the principles of learning design to develop products to meet the growing demand for interactive, equitable, and engaging learning experiences.

My MS degree in Information Experience Design fulfills business goals.

Through the study of Information Experience Design — a mix of the disciplines of Information Science, Human-Computer Interaction, and User Experience — I discovered that I have practiced design thinking throughout my career, focusing on audiences and users first, and meeting the challenges of content development across delivery channels. Now I have a vocabulary and a framework for designing and solving problems — with in-house teams as well as for customers and clients — in the pursuit of business goals.

UX theory provides tactics that support learning design: starting with users’ desired outcomes, we design products to meet customer needs that we define (and re-define) through extensive user research.

My studies and experiences in Content Strategy support innovative processes for creating and developing great content while conserving valuable human and financial resources.

Other than that…

For more than a decade I have studied the Alexander Technique, which helps me stay grounded and stand tall. I wander Manhattan, where I live with my husband, a teacher who will never adopt the learning products that I design (but I don’t mind). The most successful products I ever developed are our two daughters: an educator and a lighting designer. I sew and embroider gifts for them and for my brilliant granddaughter. My pronouns are she/her/hers.
